Airlighter’s performance and reliability depend on good-quality butane and the correct filling nozzle. We highly recommend Bison Airlighter Fuel because both the fuel and nozzle have been tested to work well with your Airlighter.

Other butane brands may work, but we cannot guarantee the same performance, reliability or ease of filling.

No. Bison Airlighter Fuel or another compatible butane fuel must be purchased separately.

Airlighter Fuel is available from a local authorized retailer or you can buy Airlighter Fuel online. Compatible butane may also be available at local hardware stores or supermarkets.

With a full fuel tank and fresh batteries or a full charge, you can expect approximately 15–30 typical fire lightings. If you use the Airlighter continuously to go from cold charcoal to cooking temperature, expect approximately 10 sessions.

The flame provides about 7–10 minutes of total burn time per tank, depending on the flame setting. A charcoal grill typically needs only 15–20 seconds of flame before switching to fan mode.

Fan time is approximately 30–35 minutes for the Airlighter 520 and 45 minutes for the Airlighter 420.

Store your Airlighter indoors at room temperature. Never leave it in direct sunlight or at temperatures above 120°F (49°C).

Always make sure it is switched off before storing. Run the fan for approximately three seconds after using the flame to ensure the flame is fully extinguished.

Yes, although—as with other butane products—the flame may be more difficult to ignite at high altitude. The blower will work normally. Using high-quality butane is especially important for the best performance.

You do not need a Bison-branded cable, but replacement charging cables are available from our store.

A typical recharge from empty to full takes approximately 4–6 hours. The first charge may take longer, so we recommend charging it overnight.

The Airlighter 420 uses replaceable batteries. The Airlighter 520 has a built-in battery that is designed to last for many years and cannot be replaced by the user.

Yes. The Airlighter is CPSC compliant and includes safeguards designed to help prevent accidental ignition. As with any product that creates a flame, it must be used with care, kept away from children and never pointed toward yourself or another person.

No. The Airlighter produces a powerful flame and is not designed for lighting tobacco. Never point the Airlighter toward yourself or another person.

Every Airlighter includes an automatic one-year warranty. Register your Airlighter on our product registration page to receive a complimentary upgrade to a two-year warranty.

Airline and security rules for lighters are strict and may vary. Even without fuel, an Airlighter may not be accepted. Our safest recommendation is to send it ahead by ground shipping and check the current rules with your airline before traveling.
